Shipping Policy | Canvas USA®

Effective Date: September 1, 2026 · ver.19
Replaces Shipping Policy ver.18.
Canvas USA® ships throughout the United States. This policy explains ship times, shipping methods, freight terms, free-freight offers, local delivery, the destinations and materials that need special handling, and what we each have to do.
This policy sits under the Canvas USA® Terms of Service, which govern your purchase. Where the two differ, the Terms of Service control.

1) Ship time — and which promise applies to your order

There are two answers here, and which one you get depends on how you ordered.

Orders you place online, by telephone or by mail, that we ship by carrier

Your order states the time within which we expect to ship. Where your project takes longer than thirty days to make, we state that longer time on your order before you accept it. Where your order states no time, we ship within thirty days of receiving your properly completed order — the point at which we have both your payment and everything we need to process and ship it, including approved measurements, specifications, colors and selections. If we are waiting on information from you, that clock has not started.
If we cannot ship within the stated time, we contact you before that time expires and offer you the choice to consent to a new date or to cancel your order for a full and prompt refund. We try email, text and telephone, because we would rather reschedule a project you still want than cancel it. If we do not hear back, we treat the order as cancelled and refund you. If a revised date passes without your written consent to a further delay, your order is cancelled and we refund you promptly.
Where you have a three-business-day right to cancel under Terms of Service §3, we do not begin production until those three days have run, and any ship time on your order is counted from that point.

Orders placed in person, and work we deliver, install or perform at your property

Any date we give you for this work is an estimate, not a guarantee, unless it is guaranteed in a signed addendum. Custom work is ordinarily completed in six to eight weeks, and larger or more complex projects can take longer. We tell you when your project is ready by Completion Notice.
Scheduling is first come, first served. Delay caused by weather, supply chain disruption, labor availability, access limitations or governmental action is not a breach. None of this limits your rights on a shipped order above.

2) Why shipping is priced per product, not per order

Our products differ enormously in size, weight and packing. A gallon of coating, a box of hardware and a fourteen-foot awning do not ship the same way, so shipping is calculated from what you ordered rather than from your order total.
Charges vary with:
  • Dimensions and weight
  • The packaging and protection needed to arrive undamaged
  • Whether the item moves by parcel or by motor freight (LTL)
  • Delivery location and access — residential, commercial, liftgate, limited access
  • Regulated materials that must move under hazardous-materials rules
Canvas USA® selects the carrier and method appropriate to the product, may adjust shipping charges for oversized, heavy, freight-required or regulated items, and holds an order until any required adjustment is approved and paid. An order needing a shipping adjustment does not ship until you approve the final charge.

3) Free-freight offers

Free freight is offered on selected products and selected orders. It is not offered on everything. Where it applies it is identified on the website or the product listing. If free freight is not shown on the listing or at checkout, the order does not qualify.
Free freight does not include:
  • Expedited service
  • Accessorial charges — liftgate, limited access, inside delivery, appointment delivery, re-delivery
  • Special handling, packaging or custom crating
  • Hazardous-materials surcharges
  • Shipments to Hawaii, Alaska and United States territories. See §5
Where additional services are requested or required, the customer is responsible for the additional carrier charges.

4) Regulated and hazardous materials

Coatings, solvents, thinners, adhesives, aerosols and some cleaners are regulated in transport. That changes how they ship, and sometimes whether they can ship at all.
  • These materials cannot travel by air under any service, including expedited air and air freight.
  • They move by ground parcel or motor freight only, and a hazardous-materials fee applies.
  • They cannot be shipped to a destination reachable only by air. See §5.
  • They are not returnable once shipped. See the Returns & Refunds policy.
  • Where a regulated material cannot reach your address, we tell you before your order is accepted, and you are not charged for it.
Some of these products carry safety or chemical warnings required by law, including California Proposition 65. Those warnings are shown before you complete your purchase and are supplied with the product. Read and follow them.

5) Hawaii, Alaska and United States territories

We ship to Hawaii, Alaska and United States territories.
  • Freight to these destinations is quoted live at the time of order. It is never flat-rated and it is never estimated from a mainland rate.
  • These destinations are excluded from every free-freight offer.
  • Products that cannot travel by air — see §4 — cannot be shipped to a destination served only by air. Where a surface route exists, transit time is materially longer and is quoted with the freight.
  • We confirm the freight and any material restriction with you before your order is accepted. Nothing ships until you approve it.

6) Local delivery

Canvas USA® offers local delivery in selected markets. Availability depends on the delivery location and distance, the size and handling requirements of the product, access at the address, and route availability. Where it is available it appears as a delivery option at checkout or is identified on the product listing.
In some local markets a free-freight offer means free local delivery rather than a carrier shipment. Those offers are identified on the product listing. Local delivery timeframes are estimates and depend on location, distance, product and route scheduling.

7) Where your order ships from

Canvas USA® fulfills orders based on product type, size, inventory and shipping requirements. Items on one order may ship from different fulfillment locations and arrive in separate packages.

8) Motor freight (LTL)

Some products require motor freight because of size, weight or handling. Motor freight is quoted from the delivery location and the requirements of the shipment. It is a separate charge and is not included in product pricing unless stated.
Where motor freight is required, the customer pays both the price of the products and the freight charge. Both are due when the order is placed, or before shipment where freight approval is required. A freight order does not ship until freight charges are confirmed and paid.
The amount shown at checkout on a freight order may be preliminary. Where confirmation is needed, we provide the final freight charge for your approval, and you approve and pay it before shipment. If you do not approve it, the order does not ship and may be cancelled and refunded, less any amount earned under Terms of Service §6.4.
On some motor freight shipments the carrier bills freight directly to the consignee at shipment or delivery. Where that applies, we tell you before shipment.

9) Freight terminal pickup — the lower-cost option

On a motor freight shipment you may choose terminal pickup instead of delivery to your address, where the carrier offers it. It avoids residential delivery fees, liftgate fees and other accessorials, and on a large shipment the saving is real.
If you choose terminal pickup:
  • The shipment is held at the carrier's terminal near your delivery ZIP code
  • You collect it within the carrier's pickup window, with valid identification and any required paperwork
  • You bring the vehicle and equipment needed to load and secure it
  • Carrier storage fees apply if it is not collected on time
Canvas USA® is not responsible for carrier storage fees, missed pickups, or delay caused by a shipment not being collected.

10) Residential delivery, liftgate and accessorial fees

Freight carriers apply accessorial fees for residential delivery, liftgate service, limited-access locations, re-delivery attempts, delivery appointments and remote areas. These are set by the carrier and the delivery location. Where they apply and were not captured at checkout, we may require payment before shipment.

11) Carriers and methods

We ship by:
  • Motor freight (LTL) carriers for oversized and palletized shipments
  • UPS and FedEx for parcel shipments, including ground-only service for regulated materials
  • United States Postal Service for small parcels that are not regulated materials. USPS does not carry the coatings, solvents and aerosols we sell, so those never move by mail
  • Local delivery in selected markets
Carrier selection follows the product and the delivery conditions.

12) Transit time once a shipment is with the carrier

Transit times shown at checkout are the carrier's estimates. Once a shipment has been handed to the carrier, its movement is in the carrier's hands, and transit can be affected by carrier delay, weather, holidays, freight scheduling, local route availability, and an incorrect or incomplete address.
This section is about transit only. It does not affect our obligation in §1 to ship within the time your order states, or your right to cancel if we do not.

13) Inspecting a freight delivery, and damage claims

On a freight delivery, what you write on the delivery receipt decides what the carrier will pay. Take two minutes at the tailgate.
  • Inspect the shipment before you sign
  • Photograph the product and the packaging at delivery
  • Note any visible damage on the delivery receipt (BOL) before you sign it
  • Refuse the shipment if it is severely damaged
  • Tell Canvas USA® within 5 business days of delivery, with your order number and photographs
A shipment signed for clean, with no damage noted, gives the carrier grounds to deny the claim. Damage that was not visible on delivery is reported within 30 days of discovering it. Both windows are set out in Terms of Service §7.4 and in the Returns & Refunds policy.
Freight damage claims are handled through the carrier and any applicable insurance. Where insurance is available and appropriate it may be included in the freight quote or offered with the shipment, subject to the carrier's or insurer's terms and limits. Canvas USA® assists with documentation and the claim; approval and resolution rest with the carrier and insurer and are governed by federal and state law.

14) Incorrect addresses and undeliverable shipments

Enter a complete and correct shipping address. If an order comes back because the address was incorrect, incomplete or undeliverable, the customer is responsible for return and re-delivery charges, original shipping charges are not refundable, and any refund is issued after the product is returned and inspected. Address changes are not guaranteed once an order has been processed or shipped.

15) Lost or missing shipments

If tracking shows delivered and you do not have the shipment, check the delivery area, confirm the address and contact the carrier. If it is still unresolved, contact Canvas USA® within 7 days of the delivery scan. Canvas USA® is not responsible for theft after confirmed delivery.

16) Refused shipments and missed freight appointments

If a freight shipment is refused, returned, or delivery fails because an appointment was missed, nobody was available to receive it, or the shipment was refused, the customer is responsible for the freight costs incurred, and may also be responsible for return freight and any restocking fee that applies under the Returns & Refunds policy.

17) International shipping

Canvas USA® ships within the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska and United States territories under §5. We do not ship internationally at this time.

18) Legal

Canvas USA® complies with applicable federal law and the law of the State of Texas governing shipping, freight delivery and consumer transactions. Where any part of this policy conflicts with applicable law, the law controls and the rest of the policy remains in effect.
